Reading
Like you did yesterday, log in to Oxford Reading and click on ‘My class login’. Enter your login details (which are the same as the school Mymaths login). Once you have logged in, click on ‘My Bookshelf’ and search for the book ‘Storm Chasers’. As you have already read chapter 1, 2 and 3, you can go straight to page 22 to carry on reading chapters 4 and 5.
When you are done, answer the following questions.
- Find and copy one word that means the same as feeling annoyed/angry.
- Find and copy three words that describe the weather on pages 24 and 25.
- On page 27, what is the author referring to when he says ‘in the white carpet’.
- The Collector uses science for evil. Find one example on page 28.
- What is Max relying on for his plan to succeed?
- Where do you think the Driller went? Make a prediction.

Log on to Mymaths.com and finish your weekly tasks. Today is your last day to complete these tasks.
If you are already done with them, well done! Complete this BBC Bitesize lesson instead.
Writing
This is the last day of your new reports writing topic. Today you will use all your knowledge to write a news report. Start with the quiz, and then follow along the lesson. Remember to pause the video as you go. Don’t forget to send this to us so we can upload it on the website on Monday!

Lots of people have been extremely creative during lockdown. As part of a ten-day creative challenge, the BBC asked the nation to dust off their instruments, warm up their vocal cords and join the newly formed BBC Lockdown Orchestra in a rendition of ‘You Got The Love’. Reading
Log on to Oxford Owl again by selecting ‘My Class Login’ and entering the whole school MyMaths login details. Search for the book ‘Storm Chasers’ and read chapters 2 and 3 on pages 9-21. Then answer the following questions:
- Name one of problems NICE is investigating.
- Where are tornadoes most common in the world?
- What did Max use to communicate with Dani?
- Why did Tiger shout “Ow!”?
- How did they protect themselves from the storm?
Maths
Complete another shape lesson from MyMaths. You will need the whole school and your personal login to do this. Email us if you need help with this!
After doing this, practise your times table with the speed challenge.
Writing
Time for our next lesson on news reports! Today you will have a SPAG focus on using inverted commas correctly. Take the quiz, take part in the video lesson and complete the worksheet.
Geography
Our focus this half term is on South America - in particular, the Amazon rainforest! Read all the information about this tropical location here and watch the video to see some interesting sights.
Once you have read all the facts, your task is to design a holiday leaflet advertising all the amazing wonders of the Amazon! Can you persuade someone to visit?

- What is the Collector’s goal?
- Find and copy Team X’s 3 destinations.
- On page 7, Maggie said to her daughter that it was a game. Why does she say that to her?
- On page 8, how can you tell Maggie was scared? Find and copy the evidence from the text.

Reading
We are continuing with our topic of news reports. Complete the second reading comprehension lesson from the Oak Academy all about inference. Take the quiz, watch the video lesson and complete the questions.
Maths
Have a go at completing one of the shape lessons from MyMaths. Log in using the school login details as well as your personal login. If you need this, please email us.
Then practise your 6, 7 and 9 times table on Hit the Button.
Writing
With everything going on, we are really missing our Moston Lane school family! Your task is to complete the Pobble lesson ‘Community’ and write a set of instructions on how to be a good member of the community. It could be a school or local community.
Science
One of our topics this half term is the digestive system. Watch the video all about how the digestive system works and have a go at drawing and labelling the digestive system on a piece of A4 paper.
Once you have finished, take the quiz on Purple Mash and see if you can label the parts correctly.

Reading
This week our literacy topic is about News Report. Head over to the Oak Academy and complete their reading comprehension lesson. Start your lesson with a quiz, then watch the video making sure you pause it when the teacher asks you to.
Maths
This week, your maths work will be on Mymaths.com and it will be about ‘Shape’. Click on the link and complete some of the activities today. You will have until Friday to finish these.
To log on to Mymaths.com you will need the school login details as well as your personal ones.
Writing
Watch ‘Catch It’, a short clip from Literacy Shed about a group of meerkats who work as a team to capture a unique fruit in the middle of the savannah. Then, complete the following tasks.
Task 1: Collective nouns are used to name a group of animals. Click on this link to find out who a group of meerkat is called and research some other collective nouns.
Task 2: Think of a time when you have had to work within a team to achieve something and write about it. You may want to think about:
- How you organised your team
- What you needed to do to work together
- Any disagreements you had and how you overcame them
- How the end result made you feel
Task 3: Finally, have some fun with this word search!
Art
Follow along this art lesson on the Oak Academy and learn how to make a dragon. A lot of the materials are optional and you can use whatever you have got in the house! Listen to the teach and she will give you ideas of some alternative materials. Have fun and remember to send us some pictures!
