Reading
Log on to Oxford Owl using the My Class Login tab, click on My Bookshelf and search for the non-fiction text ‘Time Zone’ by Jane Wood. Read the text and answer the following questions:
- Which 9 places use the GMT time zone?
- What nickname is given to people who have sailed across the equator?
- In Hong Kong, what was Dennis having for dinner?
- Where does Naledi’s school in South Africa get water from?
- Look carefully at the glossary. Find and copy one word that means the same as ‘afternoon nap’.
Maths
Have a go at the White Rose Friday Maths Challenge questions. You can even get a certificate for this week’s hard work!
Writing
Head over to the Oak Academy to complete the final poetry lesson for this week. You will be writing a repetitive poem. Start by completing the introductory quiz, then watch the video lesson and finally complete the worksheet where you will put together your poem.

Reading
Watch ‘The Hula-Hoopin’ Queen’ written by Thelma Godin and read by Oprah Winfrey. Then, answer the following questions:
- Who is Miz Adeline?
- Write three chores that Kameeka had to do before Miz Adeline’s birthday party.
- What went wrong with the cake?
- How do you think Kameeka felt when Miz Adeline said she loved cake? Explain your answer.
- Who do think is the new Hula-Hoopin’ Queen?
Maths
Complete lesson 4 ‘Divide 1 or 2-digits by 100’ on Whiterosemaths.com. Make sure you pause the video and answer the questions as you go along. After watching the video, complete this worksheet.
Writing
Carry on learning about poetry on the Oak Academy and complete lesson 4. In this lesson, you will create and understand ‘expanded noun phrases’.
First, complete the quiz. Next, click on the play button to start the video. You will need to pause the video a few times to complete some short tasks as you go along. When the video tells you to ‘pause and have a go at the activity on your worksheet’, make sure you do this:
- Pause the video
- Click ‘Close video’
- Click ‘Next’ to view the activity
When you have completed all the tasks on a piece of paper, come back on the main video to check the answers. You can even become the teacher and mark your own work!
French
Last week, we started learning about the weather in French. Let’s review what we learnt by watching this video. When it says ‘Quel temps fait-il’, pause the video and write down the different types of weather in French. Then, have a go at this memory game.

Log in to Oxford Reading Owl by clicking on the pink ‘My Class Login’ tab at the top of the page and using the whole school My Maths log in. Click ‘My Bookshelf’ and search for the book named ‘Animal Tricksters’ by Candy Gourlay. Read the short story and answer the following questions:
- Where was Mango Island located?
- Why did the biggest crocodile decide to yell? Explain your answer fully.
- How did the monkey feel after he tricked the crocodiles? Explain using evidence.
- What did the monkeys throw at the crocodiles to make them go away?
- Find and copy one word which means the same as ‘run quickly’.

Let’s continue learning about poetry on the Oak Academy by completing lesson 3. You will be learning about different poetic features in today’s lesson and practise applying them through different tasks.
Science
It’s really important to eat a balanced diet! This means eating a variety of different foods from different food groups. To begin, watch and read the information from BBC bitesize about balanced diets.
Next, you are going to think about different meals you could eat that include a variety of food groups. Use this food groups poster to help you and head over to Purple Mash to become a chef and design 3 meals that are healthily balanced by completing the ‘Healthy Plates’ 2do task.

Did you know today is World Oceans Day? World Oceans Day is all about people to getting together to start creating a better future and protect our oceans. In particular, organisers 'The Ocean Project' wish to see 30% of the world's oceans be protected in the coming years.
You are going to complete the Pobble lesson ‘Save our Environment’ which will show you how to write a report all about plastic pollution and how it is damaging the environment (in particular our oceans!). Think about which animals live in the ocean and how the plastic might be harmful to them.

Art
Continuing with our theme of World Oceans Day, your challenge is to create an ocean collage.
You need to use a variety of different materials and resources to make an effective collage. It could be coloured paper, newspaper clippings, tissue paper - anything in your house!
