Good morning Year 5! We hope that you are all okay! Did you see the thunderstorms yesterday? What a change from all of the lovely sunny weather we have been having! Remember, it is extremely important to take some time to do things that you enjoy – we look forward to hearing about what you have been up to when we speak to you on the phone this week!

Star of the Day - Scarlett

Scarlett, we love hearing about what you have been getting up to at home and all the fantastic learning you are doing! Keep it up!

Reading

In reading today we are going to be thinking about the author and the choice of vocabulary that they use. Remember, an author will always use a specific word choice to convey meaning and help to paint a picture in your mind when you read the book! In today’s lesson, we would like you to read the extract and answer the ‘what does this phrase suggest…’ questions. Think carefully about the word that has been chosen and what picture it paints in your head before answering!

Maths

Click here to play ‘Guardians of the Mathematica’ to warm up your knowledge of the four operations!

If you would like to re-cap your knowledge of long multiplication, click here. We did this a long time ago so it might be a good idea to refresh your memory if you aren’t feeling confident!

Writing

Today it is time to put everything that you have learnt this week into writing your own balanced argument! Think back to the WAGOLL and the key skills that you need to include to make this piece of writing amazing! As always, we would love to see your finished work – remember to email it to us!

Click here to get started – complete the quiz, watch the lessons and complete the activities at the end.

 SPAG

Re-cap your learning of nouns and adjectives by playing ‘Trapped’. Click here to get started.

Topic - Art

In topic today we are going to learn about abstract art and more specifically at the artist Juan Miro.

Abstract art is modern art which does not represent images of our everyday world. It has colour, lines and shapes (form), but they are not intended to represent objects or living things. Often the artists were influenced by ideas and philosophies of abstraction. Abstract art is found in painting and in sculpture

Click here for today’s lesson and find out all about automatic art before creating your very own abstract art!

Have a great day everyone!

Topic

In Computing this half term, we have been learning all about using HTML to create a website of our own.

In today’s lesson, we are going to think about the importance of evaluating what you see online and considering how we know if we can trust a website. Now more than ever, the internet is a fantastic way to stay in touch with our friends, complete our learning and to find out information and ideas. However, there are thousands of websites and it can be difficult to know what to trust and which websites are reliable.

Click here to learn about how to evaluate a website and work out whether or not you can trust what you see online. Read the information, watch the videos and complete the activities.

Have a great day!
