Today we are going to start learning to tell the time. It is important to learn to tell the time so that we know when it is time to get up; when it is time to go to school; when it is time to go to bed and many other key parts of our day.

First of all have a look at a clock face or a watch with your grown-up. Look at:

• The numbers going around the clock from 1-12.
• The long hand (this is the minute hand).
• The short hand (this is the hour hand).

Now we are going to learn to read o’clock times. When it is an o’clock time the long minute hand points to the 12 at the top of the clock. The short hour hand tells us what o’clock time it is.
