Week 8 - Fun With Friends and Family
Topic
This week's theme explores our friends and family and why they are special to us. Some key points that we discuss with the children are:
- We are a classroom of friends.
- We treat each other in a friendly way by sharing and taking turns.
- Friends care for each other’s feelings.
- Friends use kind voices when speaking with each other.
- People can be different from us but can still be our friends.
- Each of us is part of a family.
- Families come in different sizes.
- Family members are joined together by caring for each other and loving each other.
- There are lots of different types of family members that you may or may not have.
Activities
- Discuss who your friends are in Nursery. What do you do to be a good friend?
- Make a card for one of your school friends.
- Discuss the different members of your family.
- Draw a picture of your family.

Name Writing
Your name is very important. It is part of who you are! It is important that you recognise your name and start to learn to write it. Ask a grown-up to write it down for you. Now have a try at forming some of the letters yourself. Practise this every day!
Maths
Please do at least one counting activity each day:
- Practise counting forwards to 10. When you are confident at counting to 10, practise counting to 20. (You might enjoy listening to this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VLxWIHRD4E
- Every time you go upstairs, count the steps as you move up 1. Remember to say only one number for each step.
- Sing or listen to a range of number rhymes. You will find some on youtube or BBC Bitesize.
- 5 Little Speckled Frogs

- 5 Little Ducks
- 5 Currant Buns
- 1,2,3,4,5 once I caught a fish alive
