Coronavirus Update

17 March 2020 (by admin)

As you are probably aware, the Governments guidance on the Coronavirus has changed from "contain" phase to one of delaying the spread of the virus. Please see the letter below.

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you are probably aware, the government’s guidance on the coronavirus has changed from the ‘contain’ phase to one of delaying the spread of the virus. We are therefore updating you on what we are doing in light of this to help make sure our school community keeps safe and calm.

We would like to reassure you that we are taking all of the necessary steps to protect our community and are continuing to follow official guidance from the Department for Education, Public Health England and the Local Authority.

What is the current situation?
- The school remains open – this is the current official guidance that we have been given
- The school is continuing to run as normal including breakfast clubs
- We have reluctantly taken the decision to postpone some events to reduce the number of visitors into school:
• Celebrations and class assemblies – these will go ahead with our pupils but without parents/carers
• Stay and Learn sessions

When should I keep my child at home?
The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:
- new continuous cough and/or
- high temperature (37.8 degrees and above)
For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.
- For anyone in the household who starts displaying symptoms, they need to stay at home for 7 days from when the symptoms appeared
- If you live with others and you or one of them have symptoms of coronavirus, then all household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days

What we need you to do
- If you have recently changed your contact details, please inform the school office as soon as possible
- Regularly check the school web-site for any new information
- Use the Learning Links pages on the school website if your child is at home

If you have any questions
Please consult the:
- School office, if you have any questions about our response to this issue
- NHS, if you want to know more about the symptoms of coronavirus. If you think you or your child may have the symptoms, use NHS 111 online if at all possible before calling 111
- Department for Education’s coronavirus helpline: 0800 046 8687, if you have any questions about the government’s response to coronavirus in relation to schools

What happens if the school has to close?
We will only close if we are either officially advised to do so or we do not have enough staff to run the school.
In either case, we will:
- Inform you as soon as possible through the school website and by text
- We will set work for pupils on the school website
- There will be a “Home Learning” tab where you can access your child’s team page
- Work will be uploaded daily by the class teacher

Please keep in mind that we are only sending out this information to help the school community prepare. There are currently no plans to close.

Yours faithfully,
Mrs. Kerton.
